Can you believe it has been nearly 25 years since this new bridge has been built?

Hey Butch great picture! I used to enjoy all the photos you posted on the SU, now they're copying ya and I think someone has even stolen some of your pictures and reposted them.

Butch actively posts photographs of Streator on our hometown forum, www.streatoronline.com, though I have noticed similar photographs on SU, also. Butch, are you possibly back on SU as a new user? I'm not, just to be clear. Out of respect for SU's choice to forever keep Tiger on its banned list, I only browse ... though sometimes I find myself biting my lip a bit and wishing to respond to posts where I do have direct knowledge of the topic. Indeed, it's been tough to read misrepresentations here and there within some subject matters, yet not be permitted to contribute first-hand knowledge or sagacious observations. Even contributing to the light-hearted silliness and playfulness is sometimes missed. All the same, a web master pays for and/or manages his/her site, and he/she may certainly censor at will. Anyhow, it's quite fantastic to see the older photos on all three web sites (SO, OU, and SU). I save all of them ... they're priceless. Cheers, Tiger

Butch, are you possibly back on SU as a new user? I'm not, just to be clear. No, I'm not on SU under any name. I haven't posted there since my user name was banned. I really wouldn't want any other name anyhow. But I think he has my IP address banned also. I too, have sometimes wanted to respond to a topic where someone has asked something about Streator's history or wanted to see an old photo of something that I know I have. Wow ... Cool pic. I always wanted to see a picture of the old bridge. How long ago was it exactly that the new bridge was built ? Well Scott, the above photo was taken by me on May 31, 1980.

What was the big factory in downtown with the chimneys? I don't know, but they are pictured here in this postcard also.

Is that the big Yellow court house I see? I didnt know it has been here that long.
Are the smokestacks downtown, possibly, the old Com Ed plant? Just a guess !!

On the pic of Madison Street I was trying to figure out the exact location of the pic. I believe the tallest building on the right hand side of the pic is the "Little City" building (which is now in shambles ) So on the left side, further down is where the court house would be. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Yes Scott, I do believe this view is to the west. Does anyone remember Block & Kuhls? Or the big Carson's on LaSalle?
