I quit smoking twice, the first time was when I was pregnant, but I went back to smoking and the second time is, of course , when I got pregnant (again) and this time I plan on not going back but we'll see

Andrew, I take it that getting pregnant is not an option for you.

Quitting smoking is perhaps the most difficult thing I ever did. It took ten years of repeated failure. Once I stopped for three years but went back again. As soon as I figured out the thought pattern I used to rationalize starting again each time, I was eventually able to see it coming and resist. Also remembering how bummed I was after giving in each time helped too.

I have an odd story as to what made me quit smoking. A while back probably 2 yrs. if not more, i had a filling fall out and ever since then from time to time that tooth would cause me extreme pain, so just recently i decided to go see a dentist because i could not handle it anymore. Well the dentist told me the tooth needed to come out. After it was done i was told that if i smoke i should stop for at least a few days because it could cause what they call a dry socket and from what i hear those are even more painful than what i was experiencing, i mean i was told that women who have had a child would have rather of gone through labor again than to go through the pain caused by a dry socket. So i quit for those few days and haven't had a cigarrette since and it has been 2 weeks now.
